Blue Bell Club has had some interesting things happen in the last six months. The most exciting is the purchase of our “Little Pacific Princess” – our pacifica travelling showroom. Three months ago, Pip’s cousin Mark (former member and founder of Blue Bell Club in 1960), phoned to say he had this gorgeous little French bread wagon, and were we interested in it, as a travelling showroom.
Seemed a ridiculous idea – why would we want a bread wagon? Anyway the idea grew, and we thought how cool, taking our product to the people and cruising NZ in a little French bread wagon. So, without a further thought, we purchased the little van. Pip’s builder Dave, of Custom Homes (plug for Dave because he is an amazing builder), turned the back into an amazing “small spaces” showroom.
We then had to decide on sign writing, and we were very determined we wanted our pacifica background on the van. We were far too ambitious, and had very little money, but with the help of Zurem and Lana of Signwise, we were able to turn our little van into something so very very special
When it came to naming her, we decided on the “Little Pacific Princess”, as we plan to catch some of the cruise travellers when they come to Wellington. Well, she is now just on the road. Our plan is to take her to Fairs and go on amazing road trips to beaches in NZ, and just park up, open up the back, and promote our beautiful product and of course enjoy the sun. Please keep a look out for us in Wellington and be sure to come and say hi, and even better, purchase something special.
What’s new on the product scene? We have just finished a range of tableware. Sets of 6 pacifica table mats and matching napkins. We think they will be very popular, as try to find eye catching and good quality pacifica mats in New Zealand? Not likely. These sets are now on our website, and we will be showcasing them at the Thorndon Fair on December 7th.
We have also done a range of “beach” treasures. Lovely mirrors/wreaths, covered in shells , aged glass, and other treasures found on the beach. They are gorgeous and will look fantastic at the Bach. They come in a range of sizes, and the back is covered in vibrant pacifica fabric.
We are in the finishing stages of two new tivaevae bed throws, in lovely vibrant colours. They will be available very shortly.
What fun things have happened in the last six months?
Recently we travelled to Dunedin and decided to stuff a few cushions (namely 3), in our suitcases and see if there was any shop down there that could showcase Blue Bell Club.
Found a lovely shop called Moi (they have two shops – one on the beach and one in town).
The owner Sandy was excited when she saw the cushions and purchased them on the spot. She has since sold them and has placed a large order for cushions/beach mirrors, and one of our gorgeous frames.
Talking of frames, we have had success at the Pataka Art Sale in Porirua, and Kings College Art Sale in Auckland. We believe our applique frames are simply gorgeous. In fact they are probably the best thing we create and sell. Nothing like self promotion!!
Kilbirnie Dental Services have very kindly put them on their waiting room wall, and we are having great success in promoting and selling them to those artistic people who love colour, applique and memories of their holidays in the Pacific Islands.
Ruby Dunes, Ohope Beach, recently purchased 9 cushions and 1 applique frame. The cushions are perfect for the area, and sell as soon as they are delivered. That’s encouraging.
It seems that wherever we take our product we meet with huge interest. This gives us confidence that we have something special to offer.
Fruiti in Cuba Street still support Blue Bell Club and we sell our cushions through their beautiful funky shop.
Where do we go from here:
Next month we will be at the Thorndon Fair (Hill Street). In fact if you go on their facebook page you will see our cushions, table napkins and new chair. Pretty cool that they chose Blue Bell Club products to promote their Fair. Hope you guys come and say Hi to us.
In February and March we will be back at the Martinborough Fair and in between time we will be cruising the roads in the Little Pacifica Princess, and on the lawn at the bach in Riversdale Beach, Wairarapa.
We hope you notice our website is looking very smart. This is thanks to Holly. She is awesome, and makes sure products are presented in the most professional way.
Thanks guys for all your support. We are still having fun – that’s the main thing.
Still waiting to take Husbands 1 and 2 on that overseas trip. Sadly for them, (not us) they are still dipping into their pockets. We keep the bank account details close to the chest. Can’t afford to give away too much.
Always love to hear your comments on our facebook page – especially comments like “awesome”“amazing” “pure talent” “must have”.
Look forward to reporting back on our progress early in 2015.
